History

Palmyra Hunt Club was started in 1954. There were 7 original members. Membership started at $50.00. The first pheasants were purchased from Earl McMillan in Clifton Springs and later from Harold Gray in Batavia. The birds were released on Friday and always forced to fly from the crates. The club members had no idea where the birds were released, and no hunting was allowed on Friday.

Originally only pointers were allowed, but eventually labrador retrievers made their way into our fields. The leased land grew to 4300 acres in a few years.
